Hello and thanks for taking the time check out www.jameslindstrand.com! A few years ago the Lord laid it on my heart to step out of my comfort zone and put into writing the hard lessons I learned through my Internet porn addiction. It wasn’t an easy task but then again God isn’t interested in calling us to a life of ease. Noah had an ark to build, Joshua had a Promise Land to conquer, David had a giant to slay, Solomon had a kingdom to build and Jesus had a life to give-the hardest “task” of all. While these men faced insurmountable odds they were undeterred because they were motivated by a love for the Father, which brings this full circle as to why I’ve written my book Porn, Purity & Pickles. I have an ever deepening love for the Father and when He said it was time, I knew what had to be done. I had to tell my story for others to hear or read. My prayer is that it serves as a beacon of hope to the many struggling Christian men who live with this addiction in secrecy and bondage. Thanks again for visiting this webpage/blog. Please take a look around and explore the articles and resources available. I would love to hear from you with any prayer requests or testimonies you’re willing to share.
Blogging is new to me but I recognize the value it has as an outlet for sharing my greatest joys and deepest pains with friends who can relate to my journey. Most of what I write about is my pursuit for purity or my conquest for Christ-likeness, I'll sometimes leave those boundaries and share something of a different flavor just to keep it interesting. I try to post once every couple of weeks and sometimes more often. In order to make sure you don't miss a post please subscribe (via the "BLOG" tab above and click on the RSS feed) and have my latest article come directly to you.
A little about me: I grew up in a town called Marysville, Washington, just north of Seattle. I met my fun loving wife, Misty, in high school and we got married May 1, 1999 at the ripe old age of 19. I joined the Army right out of high school as an Infantryman and had a blast (pun intended as I was a mortar man). Later I became a Chaplain Assistant in which my wife likes to talk me up as a bodyguard for the chaplain (who isn't allowed to carry a rifle). I’ve been involved in various ministry positions, both full time and part time, including junior high ministry, small group leader, youth pastor and young adult director to name a few. My wife and I have seven awesome children who have us reeling in laughter one minute to providing us with opportunities for growth the next as we try to figure out this thing called parenthood. The ages range from 13 (wow, we have a teen in the house!) down to 4 months. Aside from our walk with Christ and each other, they are our greatest joy. We enjoy all kinds of activities such as hiking, fishing, playing games (love Tickets to Ride or Settlers of Catan), movie nights with LOTS of popcorn, biking, rollerblading and just hanging out. We also enjoy road trips especially those that take us to National Parks!
I graduated from Nazarene Bible College (Bible and Theology) in Colorado Springs, CO. I am currently a student at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary (distant learning) out of Lynchburg, VA, working towards my Master of Divinity degree.
Blessings to you,
